Summer is now in full swing and for many Americans like me, that means it’s peak travel season. Not everyone packs along a traveling family as large as ours – two adults and four small children – but no matter the size your tribe is, everyone appreciates saving money on hotel stays as these stays are many times the costliest item for most family vacations.

If you haven’t already plotted your stay or if you have the flexibility to change your hotel, many hotels don’t penalize you for canceling, here’s four big reasons why Best Western, the world’s largest hotel chain with more than 2,200 locations in North America alone, might just be your best value for vacationing this summer.

Free Breakfast: I’ve traveled nearly 30,000 road trip miles with my family and can tell you that nothing depletes your budget more (especially with a large family like mine) than the cost of breakfast. The fact that Best Western offers free breakfast not only means you have the great convenience of not having to travel and sometimes wait in unwanted lines to be served, but that you’ll also save an average of $25 to $60 a day, depending on the size of your family.

Free WiFi: It’s almost inconceivable nowadays to have a family vacation without a hodge-podge of tablets, smart phones, mini computers and even game consoles. Many of these gadgets are severely limited without web connection, so it’s really great that one of the hallmark benefits of staying with Best Western is that you get free WiFi. Without counting the fact that porting your own phone or tablet’s Internet service zaps your wireless data plan, paying for WiFi can be quite costly. Many hotels charge between $15 to $22. Best Western gives it to you for free!

Free Pools: Most every Best Western features a pool. The huge upside of having a free pool is that, for families with children, you can often replace higher ticket items like theme parks and have just as much fun. By my estimate, every time you take your kids to your Best Western pool, you’re potentially saving $30 to $100, depending on the size of your family and the type of activity that your pool time is replacing.

Convenient Locations: This may seem easy to overlook but it’s definitely a huge plus to stay with a hotel chain that is strategically within close driving distance to virtually anywhere you want to go. Even when you go to remote locations like we are this week in Utah, it’s great to know that we can save time and gas money by staying at Best Western hotels near all of the national parks we’re visiting.

One other thing to mention – Best Western also offers any Best Western Rewards® member a special treat during the summer. Between now and September 1, members who register prior to their first stay by August 10, and then stay three separate times at any of the brand’s hotels worldwide, will earn a free night voucher redeemable at any Best Western hotel in Canada, the U.S. or the Caribbean. Quite the deal for summer road warriors such as our family!

Wherever your travels may take you this summer, just remember that if you stay at hotels that, like Best Western, offer you convenience, quality and savings, you’ll often end up with more time on your hands and more money in your pocket, enabling you to do more and see more throughout your trip.
