Day 30 of Family Road Trip from Miami to Alaska: Rest and Healing at the Disneyland Resort

After two consecutive days of thrill rides and entertainment at Disneyland and California Adventure, we decided to slow down for some much needed rest and relaxation at the Disneyland Resort which until today we had not been able to enjoy.

Finally, I’m the One Who’s Sick

Given how everyone aboard our PapiMobile had gotten sick at one point or another in the trip, it was just a matter of time until I got something too.  On the 30th day of our road trip, a bad cold came upon me and it threw me down for the count.  I could not get up from the bed to the degree that ordinarily my kids would take the opportunity to make fun of me by taking pictures of me sick since I’ve done it to them.   (more…)

Day 28 of Miami to Alaska Family Road Trip: Disneyland Like Never Before

I’ve loved Disneyland long before my first and only short visit a year ago.   It’s the magical place that I associated with the classic Mickey Mouse Club episodes that I watched after school as a boy and was the original place that I connected with Disney movies that I grew up with like “Pete’s Dragon”, “The Love Bug” and ”Bambi” (yes, I loved “Bambi” as a boy).

This year, as part our family road trip, the PapiBlogger clan returned to Disneyland without hurries.  This is a a recap of what we found particularly charming about Disneyland Park, the original place that opened for memories in 1955.

Star Tours and the Jedi Training Academy

I’m a major Star Wars fan so it should come as no surprise that my favorite attraction at Disneyland are the Star Tours ride (more…)

Hilarious Video of Pluto Interrupting Disneyland Parade to Confront Paparazzi

In this 1-minute video you will see one of the funniest family memories we have of this summer as Pluto the dog breaks from his routine in Mickey’s Soundsational Parade in Disneyland to confront PapiBlogger and his peculiar helmet videocamera.  This video will make you smile!

Disneyland and Amazing Mariachi-style Dining Highlight Day 14 of the PapiBlogger Family Road Trip

Jo Jo The Jedi Knight at Disneyland's Star Wars: Jedi Training Academy.

On the 14th Day of the PapiBlogger Family Road Trip, the Ruiz clan devoted most of the day to magical discoveries at Disneyland and the night to introducing the kids to an L.A.-style, Mexican dinner complete with an awesome mariachi group.

DISNEYLAND EXPLORED AND COMPARED, PART 2 OF 2
The contrast between visiting Disneyland yesterday (a Friday) and today (a Saturday in the middle of the busy July 4th weekend) was vast because the lines were very long today.

It took us 45 minutes to get this photo taken inside Mickey's house in Toon Town. Skip Toon Town Mickey and catch him elsewhere. It won't take as long.

Despite this fact, no attraction’s line – not even the hallowed Space Mountain – exceeded 25 minutes. (more…)

Day 13 of Family Road Trip Highlighted by Disneyland and Moving Visit to Ronald McDonald House

Disneyland was our first stop of the day but the biggest highlight of the trip so far for the kids was serving families at the nearby Ronald McDonald House

On the 13th Day of the PapiBlogger Family Road Trip we had our first visit to Disneyland and spent some time at a Ronald McDonald House in Orange County that deeply moved our family.

MEDIA COVERAGE BUILDING FOR THE ROAD TRIP

PapiBlogger talks Sony technology and trip tips with EFE's Luis Uribe.

The day began with a delightful interview with EFE Spanish-language news wire service writer Luis Uribe at our hotel, the Disney Paradise Pier Hotel.  The kids were in a slightly misbehaving mood for their first major media interview of the trip but they did well considering it lasted 30 minutes and we told them not to move from their seats to play.  Here’s a link to one of the many places where the EFE Spanish-language story ran.

MY DISNEY ROOTS EXPLAINED

Like many Cuban American kids from Miami, I grew up going to Disney World regularly.  No joke, even though I haven’t visited any theme park in Orlando for four years, I have been to Disney World more than 40 times (more…)
