Day 8 of Family Road Trip from Miami to Alaska: Doctors, Dentists and Diaper Rash

My wife is a great sport to have let us take this unflattering photo of her getting her root canal.

A day after the biggest crisis of our family road trip experiences, we arrived in the beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, nervous and very worried for the health of Jonathan and Angela.

Urgent Care

After doing some research online and consulting with family, Angela and I decided to give an urgent care center the reins to our son Jonathan’s health.  Jonathan’s clothes looked like a mess from our overnight stay in our PapiMobile in Kansas so in order for him to be more presentable for the doctor my wife and I bought him some new, comfortable clothing.

After he got his shot, Jonathan nearly fainted so the urgent care folks gave him plenty of water and took his blood pressure before discharging him.

When Jonathan and I walk into the urgent care facility he was trembling in fear he would be either hospitalized, given injections or worse.  When I his age, I was the same so I understood what he was feeling.

The doctor examined Jonathan and diagnosed him with (more…)

Day 6 of Miami to Alaska Family Road Trip: Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion

Family Plankiando with Elvis: You ain't never seen this before at Graceland!

I recall I was watching TV with my late grandparents Manolo and Margarita on that fateful August day in 1977 when a network news anchor interrupted regular programming to declare that Elvis was dead at 42. Elvis’ passing was the first celebrity death I remember and it stunned my Cuban grandparents in particular because he was so young when he died.

Access to the second floor, which is where Elvis collapsed, is prohibited.

Day 2 of Miami to Alaska Family Road Trip: Disney Resorts and Relaxation Day

The Disney All-Star Movie Resort features characters from such classic movies as 101 Dalmatians and Herbie the Love Bug.

One of the best tips I can give families visiting Disney Parks and resorts is to combine hearty days of theme park fun with equally long days of rest and relaxation in between.  A day after starting our best of Disney theme parks visit we decided to recharge by hanging out with our family at some of the Disney resorts and restaurants.

This is the magical broom from The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Other All Star Resorts feature other famous Disney characters as well as giant items like footballs and hockey nets. Copyright, PapiBlogger 2011.

Even though we stayed at the Contemporary Resort, which is located “across the street” from the Magic Kingdom, we spent most of our relaxation day at two of the All Star Resorts where my family stayed, the All-Star Movies and the All-Star Music Resorts. (more…)

Whales, Glaciers and Disney Parks: PapiBlogger Travels from Miami to Alaska for Summer’s Ultimate Family Road Trip

A year after logging 12,000 miles with my family during a summer odyssey that took us through 33 states, social media entrepreneur Manny Ruiz – aka the “PapiBlogger” – is headed on the road again.

Miami to Alaska Family Road Trip: A Look at this Year’s PapiMobile

For the second year in a row PapiBlogger is taking to the road for an epic family trip that we believe has got to qualify us for the Guinness Book of World Record’s feat for most miles driven by a blogger with his wife and three young kids.  Well, there may not be an official record for such a thing but  I have to think that adding last year’s 12,000 miles plus this year’s anticipated mileage will qualify us for some sort of wild family prize.
